Helene Wold and Vegard Lund have played together for years. They have given concerts throughout Europe and have received a number of prizes for their performances. This is their first CD together. The music is from Vienna of the 1820s. The guitar used to accompany the songs is a Simon Ambridge, modeled after an 1830 Panormo guitar.

Quite a number of important German composers were fascinated by the guitar’s intimacy and were inspired to use the instrument as song accompaniment and in chamber music. The guitar can be taken anywhere, can be played indoors and outdoors, and the softness of its sound never overshadows the singing voice, but creates instead an intimate mood which was appreciated by Early Romanticism. Some of the loveliest Lieder were written with guitar accompaniment, and they form the basis of this recording.
