BLESSED CHRISTMAS EVE
In the profusion of Christmas albums here is a gem from Norwegian Grammy-nominated singer Marianne Beate Kielland. She has collected her favourite Christmas carols, among them O Holy Night, Maria Wiegenlied, and Grieg’s Du grønne glitrende tre, together with traditional carols such as Mitt Hjerte Alltid Vanker, Nå Vandrer Fra Hver En Verdenskrok, and Lo How a Rose E’er Blooming. Nils Anders Mortensen and Magne H. Draagen have contributed poignant arrangements.
The result is an exquisitely beautiful and contemplative Christmas recording, with genuine warmth and feeling.
The brilliant playing of Nils Anders Mortensen on piano, Erika Toth on violin, Runa Bergsmo on cello, and Knut Erik Sundquist on double bass pleasingly complements Kielland’s lovely voice. This music will add conviviality to the festive Advent and Christmas season.
The album was recorded in Trondenes Church in Harstad and Lofotkathedralen in Kabelvåg.
